URGENT SERVICES

When an urgent situation arises, Elois Healthcare commits to responding within 2 hours and initiating care within 3 hours. A common challenge we encounter is assisting individuals in navigating the complexities of returning home from a facility or hospital. This process involves managing various aspects, such as medications, dietary restrictions, and scheduling follow-up appointments. Even for patients with supportive family nearby, transitioning home can pose difficulties. For those without readily available family and friends, the process of returning home after rehabilitation or a hospital stay can be overwhelming and stressful. Our Urgent Care Services aim to facilitate a smoother, faster, and more successful transition home, reducing the risk of hospital readmission. It’s important to note that our care services are highly customizable and extend beyond the offerings mentioned below. We provide a comprehensive range of additional services, ranging from 3 hours a month to 24/7 care delivered by licensed professionals.

In times of urgency, keep in mind: There in 2, Care in 3. Contact Elois Health Care.

MEDICATION MANAGEMENT

ALZHEIMER’S CARE

While not every individual with dementia has Alzheimer's, all those with Alzheimer's have dementia, as Alzheimer's is a specific type of dementia. Approximately 1 in 10 seniors aged 65 and above is affected by Alzheimer's dementia. The Alzheimer's Association serves as a valuable resource for individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's or those with loved ones facing the diagnosis. They provide information on in-home care and offer insights into expectations. The required services vary depending on the stage of the disease.
As a skilled medical agency, Elois Health Care offers comprehensive support throughout the entire Alzheimer's journey, distinguishing us in the realm of home care. While many home care companies specialize in hands-off care such as companion care, cooking, and cleaning, along with hands-on care like bathing and dressing, Elois Healthcare goes beyond. We provide advanced hands-on care, including heavy transfer assistance, transfer assistance with devices, and delegated care like ostomy care. Additionally, our services extend to nursing care, encompassing reassessments, specimen collection in the home, and nursing support services tailored to the evolving stages of the disease.

RESPITE CARE

Respite Care

Respite Care provides short-term relief for primary caregivers. It’s meant to provide supplemental service options so the primary caregiver can have downtime or a break. When paying out of pocket, one can have as much respite care as they want! For an insurance policy, the amount of respite care is dependent on the policy. Some policies have a specific number of hours per day (ie 4 hours per day for 6 days) and some policies have a set number per year (ie 336 hours per year in respite). Long Term Medicaid Waiver programs in Delaware (Amerihealth Caritas and Highmark Blue Cross) as well as the Veterans Administration all have the ability to pay for respite care for eligible clients.

MEDICAL PRECAUTIONS

Before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, in-home medical precautions were not commonly practiced. Typically, individuals at home did not undergo routine testing for conditions such as MRSA, VRE, or viruses, as is standard in facility or hospital settings. This resulted in a limited adoption of medical precautions within the community environment. For example, when someone was hospitalized with a wound, a swab would be taken to identify bacteria, and if MRSA was detected, contact precautions would be implemented. Conversely, if the same individual received wound care at a physician's office and then returned home, there might be no swabbing conducted, leaving the presence of MRSA unknown. Despite this, our established care protocols consistently safeguard our team members through the application of universal precautions.

Various precautions require distinct types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to specific regulations

Our infection control procedures entail transparency in communicating situations that cannot be effectively managed within your home. An example of such a situation is when Airborne precautions are required, necessitating a negative pressure environment during treatment to ensure the protection of healthcare workers. If your home does not have a negative-pressure room, it implies that care should be sought in a hospital or a properly equipped facility. Typically, most facilities have a designated room or area that can be configured for negative pressure if needed.

WE ARE: LEVELS OF CAREGIVERS

Respite Care is a comprehensive term covering both Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) and Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) that a client might require. The specific services provided depend on the chosen options and may encompass:

LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN)

An LPN directly reports to an RN and can handle many similar job duties, though certain tasks necessitate RN involvement. LPNs are accountable for patient care tasks and are obligated to promptly report even minor patient changes to an RN or another healthcare professional. Generally, becoming an LPN involves approximately one year of education leading to a certificate. Successful completion of the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses is required for licensure.

ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSE

An Advanced Practice Nurse is an individual who initially earned a degree as a Registered Nurse and subsequently pursued advanced education, attaining at least a Master’s degree. These nurses are responsible for delivering and organizing patient care, and they may offer both primary and specialized health care services. There are four categories of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN or APNs): Certified Nurse Practitioner, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Certified Nurse Midwife, and Clinical Nurse Specialist. Depending on the region, APNs may serve as primary care providers.

COMPANION

Engaging a Companion offers an excellent means of offering personal support, handling light housekeeping and meal preparation, and providing companionship for a loved one who would otherwise spend a significant amount of time alone. Becoming a Companion does not necessitate formal education, and prerequisites can differ among employers. We value not only work experience but also life experience, seeking individuals dedicated to assisting others with warmth and compassion.

MEDICAL ASSISTANT

You likely recognize the medical assistant as the individual who greets you upon entering an examination room at a doctor’s office. Their responsibilities include gathering health history, recording information, and possibly measuring vital signs. In addition, medical assistants handle appointment scheduling and data entry. Typically, completion of a one-year certificate program or an Associate Degree is the standard educational requirement, and certification is not legally obligatory. It’s important to note that a medical assistant’s training differs from that of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA); CNAs are generally more trained in hands-on care such as bathing and dressing, while medical assistants may have more expertise in procedures like conducting an EKG (a heart monitoring test) or performing lab draws.

LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER

A social worker is dedicated to enhancing the social environment and overall welfare of individuals through the facilitation and development of resources. At Elois Homecare, our social worker plays a crucial role in aiding seniors during their transition to home health care, offering insights into various options. Additionally, they specializes in mental health, making them a valuable resource for comprehensive support.

REGISTERED NURSE (RN)

In doctor’s offices, hospitals, and facilities, Registered Nurses serve as the primary go-to practitioners due to their capability to execute nearly all tasks as directed by physicians. They undergo training in assessments and possess the expertise and critical thinking skills necessary to operate with minimal oversight. RNs play a crucial role in coordinating care, conducting diagnostic tests, analyzing results, providing instructions to patients on post-treatment illness management, and supervising other healthcare professionals, including LPNs, nursing aides, and home care aides.
